Lactobacillus gasseri, a probiotic for immunity, is isolated from human breast milk and has been reported to successfully promote immune system. Due to high tolerance of gastric juice, most L. gasseri individuals can be delivered to intestine through GI tract and increase the chance to improve immunity.
Compared with controls, TCI-515 can significantly promote IL-1β expression (Figure 2; p<0.001). Moreover, NK cell activity increases 28.8% after four weeks trial. These results suggest strong evidences that TCI-515 is relatively the best Probiotic for immune system, and is able to boost innate immune system.
TCI-357 (Lactobacillus helveticus) are probiotics from pear and usually applied in the production of Swiss cheese as seasoning. Several studies have shown that L. helveticus possess various benefits to human health and can alleviate the symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection in winter. Accordingly, TCI-357 have the potential to be developed as lung-protection-relevant unctional ingredients in nutraceuticals.
We co-cultured TCI-357 with THP-1 macrophage cells and fluorescent-labeled microparticles in a certain incubation period in an effort to observe the phagocytic activity of macrophages through fluorescent signals. Based on the experimental result, TCI-357 could facilitate the phagocytic activity of macrophages, which means that TCI357 can be used for disposing of microparticles in lungs and preventing lung damage from PM2.5.
Streptococcus thermophilus, which is acid-, heat-resistant and not pathogenic, is widely used in dairy industry without safety concern.TCI Co., Ltd isolated Streptococcus thermophilus TCI-633 from human breast milk and is named HA Pro-Genesis™. The efficacy of Streptococcus thermophilus TCI-633 was evaluated by in vitro and clinical studies.
We examined the difference in Hyaluronic acid (HA) producing ability between HA Pro-Genesis and S. thermophilus YIT2084. The results showed that HA Pro-Genesis could produce 270 times HA quantity than the other strain in reference.
Probiotics, any active micro organism that promotes the balance of intestinal flora and increases the health benefits of the host, can also be said to be one of the most important "organs" in the human body. Not only found in the intestines, probiotics also in the reproductive organs, respiratory tract, and skin.
In recent years, research related to probiotics and diseases on other body parts has also been continuously discovered. In view of the wide-ranging impact of probiotics on human health, the health and nutrition industry is able to develop a wide range of probiotic products.
According to the survey, most consumers know probiotics, but most only recognize them for gastrointestinal health care. Currently, custom probiotic-related products on the market are also mainly for gastrointestinal health care. For example, in 2015, from global probiotic health related products more than 78% were new products for digestive care.
Human & Microbiome Laboratory
A new concept of gastrointestinal health: Probiogenics = Probiotics + Prebiotics + Biogenics.
The Human Microbiome Laboratory primarily focuses on the establishment of a versatile bank of multifunctional microbial strains.Through active screening of probiotics and the natural flora function feedback loop, our development of target-specific microfloral adjustment and modification from selective bacterial manipulation truly benefit each individual from a personal scope.
